Who grew up trying to beat the heat by eating dirty ice cream from Mamang Sorbetero or ice candy from the nearest Sari-sari store? Well, I was one of them and still am, only now we make our own at home. Here's our healthier version of homemade ice cream in ice candy bags.

Note: You'll need a blender, a funnel and ice candy bags.

7 Ripe Mangoes
Cocoa powder
Fresh Coconut Milk
Muscovado Sugar
Vanilla Extract

We made 2 variations, chocolate and mango.

For the chocolate, just put 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder in the blender, around 6 tablespoons of Muscovado sugar, a couple of drops of Vanilla extract and just enough coconut milk that will give the mixture a smoothie consistency. Blend them all together. Make sure to taste it and adjust to your desired level of sweetness and intensity of vanilla or chocolate flavor.

When you're satisfied, use a funnel to pour the mixture in the ice candy bags. The same goes with the other flavor, just substitute the mangoes for the cocoa powder. When they're all in the bags, freeze them and that's it. In a couple of hours you'll have chocolate and mango fudge ice candies or as we call it "Fudgecicles."

The whole time we were waiting for the 1st batch to harden, Miss Artsy kept asking if she could peek inside just to check if they're ready, like every 5 minutes! Lesson learned, don't let her know beforehand what we're doing, patience is not her virtue. Surprise her instead.

When at last it was time to eat them, we all tried the mangoes first. They were deliciously creamy and soft. It was our eldest's first time eating from an ice candy bag and needed an explaining on how to go about in doing that. The Little Hulk on the other hand just watched and perfectly copied what he saw we were doing right after his dad tore the end of his ice candy. He was a natural, or maybe he was just really hungry haha. The chocolate didn't disappoint us either, that flavor got devoured in record time and we were all very satisfied. You should definitely try it!

A quick, easy and healthy snack that the whole family can enjoy on those hot days without having to go out or spend that much, another recipe that'll stretch your peso!;)
