If you're a photographer, a blogger, a small business owner of an online store, or you simply want to take gorgeous pictures, then this might be the perfect DIY project for you to take on. Ever wonder how those beautiful product shots all over Instagram and Pinterest were taken? Did you know that most of them weren't even shot in a professional studio? Yup, most of them were styled and captured at home using either a camera or smartphone. There are products readily available in the market that you can purchase to have your own photo studio, but those can cost you from Php300 up to Php4,500 depending on the size and brand, not really budget-friendly so to speak. Now, let's say you have the time to kill and the ability to make one yourself, wouldn't you do it? <br />

So our website's official photographer, Ms. Rodevie, took on the task and made one from scratch, using a cardboard box and some elbow grease. Here's how she did it.<br />

<b>Materials:</b><br />

<li>Cardboard Box - large, medium or small, square or rectangle, it's up to you. You can get it for free by saving boxes from deliveries or in our case, from the office. They were going to throw it out anyway.</li>

Take your ruler and measure 2 inches from the side of the box to the center, mark off multiple points with your pencil and connect them to make a square or rectangle. It depends on the shape of your box. Do this to the top and 2 sides (left and right) of the box, leave the back and bottom alone.<br />
<br />
Now cut out all of the boxes you've drawn. These 3 sides of the box will be where lights (LED desk lamps or natural light) will be 
shining through. Be careful when using a box cutter, it's very sharp.</div>

After cutting out the holes, cover them each fully with parchment paper (this will diffuse the light) and secure using tape.<br />

Now take your cartolina (this will serve as your backdrop) and cut it so the width is the same as the inside of the box and the length is much longer than the box. Place it into the box by sticking it from the top of the back of the box with double sided tape or any other adhesive and let it curve to the bottom. Avoid creasing or folding it as it will show up in your photo. Cut off any excess cartolina that is sticking out of the box. And you're done!<br /></div>

The parchment paper sheets and cartolina cost Php35, the box was free and the rest of the tools & supplies used for this project was easily found around the house. Water <span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}"><span class="UFICommentBody _1n4g"><span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}"><span class="UFICommentBody _1n4g"><br /><br /><b>Note:</b> You can substitute homemade Chicken Stock instead of Butter and Water for babies 1 year and older</span></span><br /><br /><b>Instructions:</b><br />Peel sweet potatoes and cut them into cubes<br />Put them in a pot<br />Add 3-5 pinches of salt, turmeric powder and black pepper<br />Add water - just enough to cover the sweet potatoes half way<br />Turn on the stove<br />Bring it up to a boil then put on low and simmer until soft<br />Set aside<br /><br />Take the quail eggs out of the shell and place them in a bowl<br />Heat up 1/2 cup of water in a small pot<br />Add the quail eggs and turn off the heat, mix<br />Pour into the pot of sweet potatoes<br />Use a hand blender to turn it into mash directly in the pot <br />Add the butter and more water/stock until you get the right consistency</span></span> <br />

You can choose from a variety of tools and equipment for making it, which are all readily available at malls or supermarkets. If you don't mind a little elbow grease then you can use an old school Japanese strainer made of fine horse hair, a hand masher, a ricer or a manual juicer. If you're in a hurry, have money to spend and unfortunately like me, have weak arms, then you might want to have a go at a blender, a food processor or my personal favorite a hand emulsifier. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Now, should we boil or steam? </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Based on a lot of research we found out that some nutrients in vegetables, known as water-soluble vitamins, dissolve 
in water. And the longer vegetables are submerged in water, the more 
vitamins seep out, much more so when heat is involved. So steaming really is the better cooking method to use. Don't forget to season with salt or a bit of natural sweetener to adjust your baby food to your baby's liking. Our Little Miss Banshee, we found out, tends to lean towards savory more than sweet. She hates apples and bananas. She likes pumpkin, yam, and carrots. Ok, those are kind of sweet, so maybe she just doesn't like fruits and is just more into veggies.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It's not rocket science, anyone can make this. You just need to peel, in our case, the vegetables. Cut them in medium sized chunks. Just make sure the cuts are as uniform as possible for even cooking all throughout. We season ours with Turmeric powder, sea salt and black pepper. Then steam until tender but not overcooked. Then we blitz it in the blender until we reach the right consistency and get rid of as much lumps as we can. </span></div>

Having a school grader and an active toddler to take care of, and being heavily pregnant at that, just made making marinara sauce from scratch not an option. Fortunately, Mr/ D discovered <a href="http://claraole.com/products/tomato-sauce/tomato-sauce">Clara Ole Tomato Sauce</a> while doing the grocery shopping, it's All-Natural and has NO Preservatives. So here's my simple and healthy marinara sauce recipe that our whole family enjoys on a weekly basis:</span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Heat your pot to a medium-high heat and add just enough amount of butter to coat your <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirepoix_%28cuisine%29">Mirepoix</a>, which is also known as the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_trinity_%28cuisine%29">Holy Trinity</a> in Louisiana, or Soffritto in Spain just minus the garlic. It's a mixture of onions, celery and carrots that is usually used as the base for a lot of sauces, soups and broths. Saute the mirepoix and let the diced up vegetables sweat out for a bit to release the juices, season with just enough herbs, salt and pepper. </span></span></div>

Once the pork is cooked half way, add the diced tomatoes and garlic. After around 10 minutes, add the Clara Ole Tomato Sauce and a bit of water to thin it out a bit. Cover your pot and let it boil. When it comes to a boil put the heat on low, adjust the seasoning as you desire and let it simmer for 5 minutes before turning off the stove. And that's it.</span></span></div>

If the omelet slides easily this means it's time to turn it over, if it's still sticking to the pan then just cook it some more. I like mine a bit brown, but the kids want to keep the bright yellow color and I always give in.</span></span></div>
