Shows We Let Our Kids Watch

Just like movies, Mr. D and I only have a handful of shows that we let our kids see. We actually watch the show ourselves first, you know, screen a couple of episodes before deciding to let the kids see even a glimpse of it. If we find them suitable for them then we give them access to the videos so that they can watch (usually with one or both of us parents for guidance) them on their free time using the computer, since we don't watch tv as a whole. Here's our list of picks:

The Flying House

When a storm disrupts a game of hide and seek, Justin Casey and his friends Angela and Corky Roberts take refuge inside a house owned by Professor Humphrey Bumble, an inventor, and his Solar Ion Robot (SIR). The Professor shows them his greatest invention: a time machine built into his home. He plans to use the ongoing storm's electricity to get it working, but the energy sends SIR haywire and its antics damage the machine and make it send the whole house to the past, to the time of the New Testament. Now, as Professor Bumble makes several adjustments to fix his flying house, causing it to shift between various biblical events, Justin and his friends witness and participate in these events.

Super Book

Two young children, Chris Peeper and his neighbor Joy, come across a glowing old Bible in the attic of their home. They discover it's enchanted, transporting them to the events reported within its pages. Accompanied by the robot Gizmo (and later by Chris's pet dog Ruffles and cousin Uriah) they travel into the Superbook to experience Biblical stories firsthand.

Peppa Pig

Peppa is a loveable, cheeky little piggy who lives with her little brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig. Peppa's favourite things include playing games, dressing up, days out and jumping in muddy puddles. Her adventures always end happily with loud snorts of laughter.
Pocoyo

Pocoyo is a curious toddler dressed all in blue, from his blue cap to his blue jumpsuit. He's full of fun and perhaps a touch of good-natured mischief. His friends include Pato, the yellow duck; Elly, the pink elephant with a blue backpack; Loula, his faithful dog; Sleepy Bird, the droopy-eyed blue-green bird always asleep in her nest; and many others. The Narrator greets little Pocoyo every day and gently suggests an answer to anything that puzzles him. But just as often, the Narrator himself learns something valuable. Pocoyo's computer-animated world is full of simple shapes, bright colors and cheerful music.
The Magic School Bus

In a small grade school, one class has a unique way of learning about the world with their teacher, Ms. Frizzle. To illustrate the science concepts they discuss, they always take a field trip on the Magic School Bus, a magic vehicle that can literally go anywhere and be anything as the class explores space, the arctic, the human body, and more in order to have a firsthand experience of the principles of science.
Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom

The friendship between fairy princess Holly and Ben Elf in the magical Kingdom of elves and fairies.
Wild Kratts

Chris and Martin Kratt are brothers who explore the wild throughout the world to learn more about animals and share conservation information. They have three friends who travel in the Tortuga HQ with them named Aviva, Koki and Jimmy Z. The brothers have creature power suits that allow them to experience what it's like to be the animals they find. The team helps them by creating power suit creature disks for each animal they study. They also bring them supplies and help them out of tricky situations when their adventures get dicey. The group has to overcome villains as well, like a chef who wants to serve endangered species on his menu, or a clothing designer who wants to trap and use live animals to make her clothing line, or a tech villain who wants to turn animals into robots to do his bidding.
