I don't know if you've heard about the great vaccination debate but it's something that we all should look into when it comes to health. My readers know by now where my stand is on natural remedies, chemical-free treatments and preventative medicine versus conventional medicine. How I prefer to go the natural route as opposed to taking chemical-based drugs for every little thing like a headache, not being able sleep or even to merely treat the common cold. How I focus more on nutrition to keep fit and healthy instead of being prescription-drug-dependent as most people are nowadays. It's been working for us, for more than a decade now, quite effective even. The people who say that natural remedies and homeopathy don't work, either haven't tried it at all or have too much toxins in their systems that their bodies don't respond to the natural approach like ours do, because of our strict healthy lifestyle. Natural cures work, and that's a fact. I just want to get that out there. And now, back to vaccines.

I'd like to ask all of you to kindly keep an open mind about "questioning vaccines," what's in them, how they affect an individual's body once injected, were there enough safety studies conducted to make sure that they are indeed safe and how much do doctors who give them really know about what they're injecting into their patients. Just to be clear, this is not an anti-vaccine movement article, but a Pro-HEALTH, Pro-FAMILY, Pro-SAFETY, Pro-KIDS, Pro-SCIENCE and Pro-Informed Consent post focusing on vaccine awareness.

What do we really know about vaccines? Most people just know that they're safe and are for prevention of catching infectious diseases. So if you want your kids to be healthy, make sure their shots are up to date. Other than that, nothing much, right? Unless we belong to a certain group of people who are familiar with biochemistry and toxicology, which I am not. That's why my opinion and approach on tackling this subject matter is solely based on experience as a parent of 4, observation, and sheer common sense by merely putting 2 and 2 together.

Have you ever wondered what's in vaccines? Isn't it true that before we buy a house or car, we research first? Same goes when choosing schools or universities or even our toothpaste brand. So why are we not doing the same when it comes to vaccines? Because we trust doctors and believe them irrefutably when they say that vaccines are good and safe for our kids, right? Well, they're human too, and can make mistakes. Ever heard of people suffering from misdiagnosis? It happens, because doctors don't know everything.

As parents, we are the final authority when it comes to the well-being of our children, this includes decisions about their health. Injecting something into our child's body isn't a small matter, we should be educated about what's exactly in each shot, the risks if any, side effects and how safe they really are in order for us to make an informed choice when it comes to vaccination. It all boils down to getting thoroughly educated about what we are letting doctors/nurses inject into our bodies.

In my personal experience, the pediatricians we've been to who administer shots don't know much about vaccines at all. They actually don't read the package inserts and just takes the pharmaceutical rep's word for it that they're safe and effective to use on humans. So, how does one go about in becoming educated about vaccines? Well, there's the internet, you can search the CDC website about each vaccine they approve of, this includes the ingredients and side effects.
