Back to the roots, or going back to basics when it comes to food and health is considered an ongoing trend nowadays, but I say it shouldn't just be a fad but a lifestyle goal we all must set are eyes on. Are we really improving as time goes by when it comes to health or are things becoming worse compared to previous years? In my opinion, it's a very important question that all of us should be asking, a subject matter we should all be looking into.
Before when you had the flu, simply taking your medication and sleeping it off at home is enough to get through it, right? Now we see people diagnosed with the flu being admitted in a hospital one after the other and staying there for a couple of days like you can't really get better unless doctors or nurses are looking after you personally, which tells me that there is something wrong with where the medical industry is headed when it comes to treating diseases. Now there's even a vaccine for flu that they suggested that we get on an annual basis, but seeing that those same people diligently taking their flu shots who a week after comes down with "flu-like symptoms" saying I'm skeptical about it would be too mild a description of my opinion on subject. Based on common sense and the results we're seeing I'd say that western medicine has taken the turn for the worse while claiming the exact opposite.
For more than a decade now, I have learned, based on personal experience, that just blindly listening to your doctor when it comes to health issues isn't really a good idea. First of all, because they're not the experts on nutrition, and proper nutrition is a key factor in staying fit and healthy. Second, it's because they really don't know anything about healthcare, they only know about sickcare or disease management. Most of the drugs and treatments they prescribe don't really cure the disease, they just suppress the symptoms, it's really our body, our natural immune system who combats the virus/disease and eliminates it in the end.
Think about it, prescription drugs and vaccines have only been here for
100 years, the human race has survived without them admittedly for quite
a long time. Back then, without chemical-based drugs, Cancer was rare,
so was Autism and Autoimmune Disorders. Today it's normal that most kids
have asthma, food allergies, ADHD, primary complex, or even Cancer.
Yes, sadly, childhood leukemia has become a normal thing too. Now going
back to the common cold and flu, it is still possible to cure and event
prevent it without medical intervention or chemical-based drugs ingested
into our system. And here are some of the natural home remedies that we
have tried and tested on ourselves, over the years:
- Vitamin D. Yes, sunlight. Get your daily Vitamin D fix and it'll help you recover faster.
- Apple cider vinegar. A tablespoon of this wonderful product taken 3 times a day, right after you wake up and before going to bed, goes a long way in combating the flu.
- Vitamin C.
A known powerful immune system booster, vitamin C is the go-to remedy for both
preventing and treating colds. Just make sure to get a natural one, there are lots of synthetic vitamins out in the market which doesn't really give the same benefits as the authentic, natural ones.
- Honey. Raw and organic honey is a powerful soothing and healing agent is great in boosting immunity and treating cold symptoms. Its
diverse array of antioxidant, antiviral, and antibacterial nutrients
make honey an excellent cold medicine that mixes well with other cold
remedies such as apple cider vinegar and lemon.
- Ginger. Ginger has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. Make
fresh ginger tea by steeping slices of ginger into a mug or glass of hot
water and sip to soothe sore and scratchy throats and coughs and even
give a bit of an energy boost.
- Lemon. High in immune system-booster vitamin C, lemons and limes weaken the
virus and help reduce and loosen phlegm. Squeeze lemon juice into hot or
cold tea with honey or make lemonade with honey to keep the sniffles at bay and fight the infection away.
- Garlic.Rich in allicin, which strengthens the immune system, 1-2 pieces of chopped or crushed garlic steeped in hot water can do wonders to relieve the symptoms of flu.
There are tons of natural home remedies
that people usually take for granted, but when used properly and
regularly, the truth is that they often do work - and often work well without any harmful side effects like prescription drugs are admittedly loaded with.
Not only that, but these natural remedies are also quite inexpensive and easy
to find. These everyday items help fight off the colds and flu as well
as keep the body fit and healthy. We should take it from our great grandparents who mostly used these instead of rushing off to the doctor when they get the flu. Their generation was way healthier than ours, so why not go back to the way they did it? Makes perfectly good sense and stretches our peso as well!
