LPUCI Adds Flair to its Wings by Sweeping the Philippine Culinary Cup and Bringing In International Master Baker Chef Peter Yuen
There is no stopping the Lyceum of the Philippines Culinary Institute (LPUCI) as it proves once again that it is the Metro's biggest and most advanced culinary school. And it was depicted with two events which both happened in August of this year.
Last August 5 to 8, the Philippine Culinary Cup (PCC) was held alongside one of the biggest food expo in the country, the World Food Expo (WOFEX). This event allows culinary schools from different parts of the country to battle and aspire to be the best culinary school per given category. LPUCI has been one of the most aggressive participants in this renowned culinary competition. And in the past years, LPUCI has never failed to make their alma mater proud however, the institute took it further this year when it brought home seven (7) gold medals, nine (9) silvers and nine (9) bronzes.

"We believe that LPUCI participants deserve the honors they reaped from PCC. It was no-piece-of-cake as they invested a lot of time on practice and perfecting their skills and their crafts for this event. Such medals is truly the fruits of their labors and we, at LPUCI truly are proud of them. It is also a sign that we are embarking on the right journey as we help mold these future culinary connoisseurs," said Chef Joel Tanjimenez, LPUCI Chef Administrator and over-all coordinator of LPUCI culinary competitions.
Chef Yuen's classes at LPUCI is hands-on and student-centric. It allowed Chef Yuen to give ample attention to each student and monitor each one's skills and progress with every session. Chef Yuen's technique in teaching is complementary to LPUCI's teaching practices as well.
Chef Dan Basilio, Culinary Director of LPUCI could not be any prouder that the institution was able to make the international expert share his knowledge and skills in their campus. "I have known and witnessed the talents and skills of Chef Yuen for years. I believe that his expertise cannot only help the Filipino baking students and professionals improve their proficiency but also give them an edge in the global setting" said Chef Basilio.
With the success of Chef Yuen's specialized program and the demands from those who were not able to sign up, LPUCI announced Chef Yuen's return next year August 2016 for another set of specialized programs. The renowned chef is more than happy to return to the culinary institute's campus and share his knowledge and skills to the ever enthusiastic Filipino learners.
