For my mom's first ever big birthday bash, we let the professionals handle everything, especially the piece de resistance, the cake! And it was Pastry Chef/Owner Aileen Conde of Honey Glaze Cakes who brought the house down with a stunning 3-layer creation, that packed a punch when it came to overall taste and texture. So here's how it went:

After ironing out some small details with the hotel and catering services, the cake was next on our list. And let me tell you, trying to find the perfect custom cake supplier was definitely a challenge because quite frankly, there were too many of them to choose from after the wedding scene boom a couple of years back. But we were finally able to narrow it down to the ones nearest our party venue and of course with glowing customer reviews.

Honey Glaze Cakes was at the top of our list after checking out their website and seeing their vast collection of cakes they did for past weddings and other occasions. We gave them a call, found out they could accommodate us on the date of my mom's soiree and made an appointment to see their cake designs and of course, cake sampling.

Visiting their office was a pleasure, the staff was nice, the owner Ms. Aileen was there to answer all of our inquiries, and the cakes didn't disappoint, they were super moist and tasted fantastic! It was love at first bite, which was why we closed the deal with them right after the tasting, ignoring the other cake suppliers on our list. That settled, we then tackled choosing cake flavors for each layer and the most important part, the cake design.

We chose their signature Belgian Chocolate for the bottom layer, then the Carrot Walnut for the second layer and the classic Red Velvet for the top layer of the cake. We took inspiration from my mom's love of music and dancing, worked from there and combined it with an existing design they had. We just changed up the music era appropriate for my mom's generation, the color motif, and added her favorite artists.

On the day of the party, the cake arrived at the time we agreed upon and looked gorgeous.

We had a whole spread of sweets for dessert, but the cake was definitely the highlight. We had a couple of guests who complemented us on the cakes and kept coming back for the Belgian Chocolate! Two thumbs up on the taste department!

So when it comes to custom cakes for that special occasion and value for your money, we highly recommend Honey Glaze Cakes!
