<div style="text-align: justify;">
I believe that life should be simple. If you feel that things should be simplified, you will definitely like Dibz, a parking app that simplifies finding and reserving parking slots.</div>

<div style="color: #222222; font-size: 12.8px;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This morning, before I left for work, I used Dibz to reserve my parking slot. The app shows you where you are in a map and lets you point where to go. <br /><br />In this case I was going to Ortigas Business District. So I typed in the name of the building...</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">then Dibz gave me options of where to park. :) This is great for car owners who want to secure a parking spot so they can focus on more important things, like driving? Haha.</span></span></div>

</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">There's an option to reserve a spot, hire a valet or just navigate to the parking space. So I took a quick glance at what was available for me through a list in the menu.</span></div>
<br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I found one just a few blocks away from the office, a reservation was also available so I took it. This app lets you reserve your spot for 1 hour free of charge. The reservation expires after 1 hour but then you can just reserve again. No problem. I do hope they have an option to extend the reservation with just one click/button.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">That was a good first time experience for me on using Dibz. The app was smooth, it linked with Waze which helped me navigate. Plus the service was great, the people were friendly and took time to answer my questions. Perhaps the two things they need to work on is expanding their network. It would be great to find Dibz in most parking spaces and not just in Metro Manila. Valet service would be nice near the office and issuing official receipts would be good too! :) I give them extra points for the referral code so that active Dibzters receive parking incentives as they refer the app to their friends and co-workers. Everyone is happy when you can all stretch your peso.</span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The traffic in Metro Manila isn't going to get better anytime soon, the government is working on it but an instant fix just isn't possible for a problem this serious and of this scale. Car owners like us have to deal with getting stuck in the road for hours, which wastes valuable time and gas in the process. In my personal experience, we usually find ourselves allocating at least 2-3 hours for what was supposed to be a 45-minute drive nowadays, just to make sure that we're not late for an appointment. Navigating through roads while trying to avoid areas with heavy traffic and collisions with hot-headed drivers is already a huge ordeal, we're talking about Metro Manila roads here, so... And when you finally arrive at your destination, lo and behold, fighting for a parking space is what you're up against next. It's a war zone out there.<br />
<br />
It's not that big a deal to waste more time and gas in the act of looking for a slot to park in, but what if you're going to an important business meeting or an interview where time is gold? What if you find yourself in a time crunch and can't afford to chance a space being freed up in let's say the next 10 minutes? I always find myself thinking about the what ifs that could arise when you really don't have time to spare for more driving and waiting around just for a parking space to be available most especially in the business sector and malls.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, when you're already exhausted from driving, well mostly being stuck and trying hard not to blow a gasket when encountering motorists who don't follow simple road rules, wouldn't it be great to have a parking space waiting for your arrival? A guaranteed slot reserved just for your car the minute you reach your destination? Well, DIBZ has got us covered!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
DIBZ is a mobile app that brings hassle-free parking to drivers in Metro Manila! With Dibz, we can search for and reserve an available parking space that is guaranteed available when we arrive. No more circling the block in search for parking, no more waiting for other cars to leave, no more scrambling for loose change and misplaced parking tickets! Oh, and did I mention that all payments are made cashless? When you use DIBZ, they are! Parking has never been this easy!<br />

With DIBZ we can now pre-pay, locate, reserve and rent a parking space easily on our smartphones. People with spare or free parking slots (unfortunately, I'm not one of them) can also use this mobile application to rent it out to those who are in need of space to park their car in. Isn't that neat?<br />
<br />
I honestly haven't tried the app itself since I don't go out that much, but there's an upcoming trip we've been planning to do for quite some time now which involves going around in the metro. I'm sure DIBZ is going to come in handy when we do go. I don't know about you guys but, I'm glad I stumbled upon DIBZ and I can't wait to use it! So, stay tuned for the follow up (review) article and how that pans out for us first time users of this parking application.<br />
<br />

Are Taxis, Jeepneys and Buses Really Safe, LTFRB?

July 26 is going to hit commuters hard, Metro Manila the hardest I imagine. The matter regarding Grab and Uber has been making waves on social media, most especially after the LTFRB's casual statement that taxis, buses and jeepneys are safe. Netizens haven't been shy in voicing out their opinions on this and let's just say that it's not pretty.<br />

These ride-sharing
 apps may not be the best solutions to Metro
Manila's current transportation problems, but they sure give us commuters a sigh of
 relief especially when faced with countless numbers of obstacles during rush
hour. But, despite public uproar for their necessity, the Land
Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board continues its crackdown
on Grab and Uber. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
By
 July 26, Grab and Uber vehicles that don't have the required
Certificates of Public Convenience will be impounded, this is because
there's still no efficient system of registration for these new players
in the Philippine transport industry. According to <a href="https://www.change.org/p/ltfrb-land-transportation-franchising-and-regulatory-board-calling-for-urgent-action-to-finally-lift-the-tnvs-suspension" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">a petition by Bobby Coronel</a>,
 "while [Transportation Network Vehicle Service drivers] all received
[their Transport Network Company] accreditation, their applications for
Provisional Authority with the Land Transportation Franchising and
Regulatory Board (LTFRB) were either not acted upon, or did not make it
to the July 21, 2016 cut-off when they suspended all new applications.” </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A report by Top Gear Philippines (which you can read <a href="http://www.topgear.com.ph/news/motoring-news/on-july-26-it-will-be-almost-impossible-to-book-an-uber-or-grab-a00012-20170716" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>) reveals that sadly around 90% of Grab and Uber drivers don’t have the necessary
 certificate because the LTFRB decided to stop issuing said documents a year ago. The agency’s reason for this? Colorum or unregistered vehicles
aren’t safe for public use. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdsRdn0fw6DkGwZKf-OWlXa_s96JBZXXCswtp4x8taXVBywjr44ChInabziH1DQUMnVinnU2jKI0AFNlI3XHMOX7C5kBaJkhnrilUTMdiOsFKH5pPLPqkGibhH1E1H9c6LfMoKocequLVI/s1600/Grab+And+Uber+PH.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="424" data-original-width="750" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdsRdn0fw6DkGwZKf-OWlXa_s96JBZXXCswtp4x8taXVBywjr44ChInabziH1DQUMnVinnU2jKI0AFNlI3XHMOX7C5kBaJkhnrilUTMdiOsFKH5pPLPqkGibhH1E1H9c6LfMoKocequLVI/s400/Grab+And+Uber+PH.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grab and Uber in my opinion are way better and safer than other existing public transport vehicles. I know that when my balikbayan mom and sister were home, at different times during the year, they depended on Grab and Uber heavily and were both satisfied with their services. The drivers were ok, the cars were nice and they felt safer than when they took cabs to get around the metro. For added safety precautions, they'd share their ride either through social media or privately to us, to make sure that we knew who the driver was together with other details of the ride. When the car arrives, we don't let my mom or sister go out alone, there's always at least 2 more with her to send her off, look at the vehicle and give the driver a hard look and try to catch his eye too. It's like our way of silently telling him that if anything happens to his passenger, there are witnesses that she got on his car.<br />
<br />
Even my husband books a ride on either Grab or Uber when he gets caught in rush hour and jeepneys and buses are packed. He got home whole and safe each and every time. My own experience with Grab and Uber on the rare occasions I do go out were all good as well. On the other hand, when it comes to our usual public transport, that's a whole different matter.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I haven't ridden in a taxi or any form of public transport (jeepney, bus) for a long time since I became a mom of 4. The last time I rode a taxi though was a horrifying experience for a female my size who was alone. I went to Farmer's Market Cubao at around 5am to buy fresh live shrimps (Suahe) as a surprise for my husband who was still peacefully sleeping at home with our daughter (only child back then) tucked in his arms. Carrying a cooler with my money just scattered in various pockets, I hailed a jeep to Cubao. It was pretty fast, but then I always enjoyed riding in a "Hataw" jeep in the morning. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, I got the shrimps and some imported produce that were usually only available there, then it was time to head home. I was in a hurry so getting a cab was my only option. I got one pretty quick, but then a creepy feeling came over me immediately, especially when the driver kept talking and talking like we were close friends, his tone was different too. I don't mind conversing with drivers, don't get me wrong, but there was something niggling at the back of my head that didn't make me feel at ease inside that cab. I was only in the taxi for less than 5 minutes and I wanted to get out right away. What pushed me over the edge was when he suddenly suggested that I sit in the front seat next to him since it was just the two of us. He said it was better, so we could talk more properly during the long ride to keep him awake. He slowed down as if to put the car to a stop and kept on pressing me to move to the front, that's when I fabricated a call from a friend telling me that she was in Araneta and that I should just ride with her home. By then, we were almost at SM Cubao and there were guards nearby. So I hurriedly gave him 50 pesos and got out of the vehicle as fast as I could. He really gave me the creeps.<br />
<br />
I took a different cab home, with a really old driver who I knew I could take on if he wanted to try anything funny unless, of course, if he was armed. I was mad at this point when I got past the shock and the realization that I could've been put in a seriously bad situation finally sunk in. I wanted to punch the cab driver from before but opted to just stay alert and get safely home, I wasn't out of the woods yet as far as I was concerned.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That night, as I was was browsing on my Facebook newsfeed I saw a post from a female who almost had the same experience I had, but unfortunately she didn't get out of the cab unscathed. Unlike me, this happened at night and she sat in the front immediately, so the driver got a hold of her and things happened. She had to jump off the vehicle while it was still in motion, was injured more and wounded due to that too. It was almost the same exact story, a taxi driver did that. That could've been me...<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Back in college I remember witnessing stick ups (which unfortunately still happens to this day) in the jeepney, bus or fx that I was riding. I wasn't ever the sole target, but seeing it up close, a gun or knife pointed at one of the passengers in the same vehicle was still pretty scary. There were also times that I'd get the strong gut feeling that the driver was in on it too. I had money, jewelry, smartphones and a hat taken during those times, I'm just glad we weren't hurt, just winded out from the whole ordeal.<br />
<br />
From personal experience and based on what real commuters who have taken jeepneys, buses, taxis to and from work or just to get around for years and now choose the alternative, say, I do believe that Grab and Uber are safer. That's just my two cents on this issue. </div>

7 Things To Consider Before Installing Pokémon GO

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Stop for a minute before catching them all</b></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First of all, I loved playing Pokémon on the Gameboy back in the 90s and of course watching the anime series once it hit the small screen. Imagine my delight when I learned about Pokémon GO thru my social media news feeds just last week. My Facebook was flooded with posts of screenshots of the game being played by my friends, thus making me Google it right away. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, what's the big deal about this augmented reality game? You see, Pokémon GO is essentially every Pokémon fan’s fantasy. I was actually a huge fan of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu together with Misty and
 Brock. I was totally hooked on the game, I still remember how I felt
when I caught a Mewtwo for the first time. I was on cloud nine! With Pokémon GO you can become an actual Pokémon trainer who gets to travel around, capturing Pokémon here and there, evolve them, and then battle them at your local Gym. For anyone who grew up playing and watching the series like me, Pokémon GO is basically a dream come true. Yes, we finally get to be Ash! The only problem is, now that the game has launched on both Android and iOS platforms, we can safely say that this game isn't all that dreamy.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXvkQLA4jXgOEnHg5FGbdC_ruLKKoMscZ6tjIlr912txl16KkvoO7GDQQa5UYZ13pIQSVcd5UjH4GnieyJSUtVKf2EQrw-uqjWkjnRYsT_XpugQsOnghHrAnPa7JJd2tHARzNhcLh6S9vC/s1600/PokemonGo+Game.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXvkQLA4jXgOEnHg5FGbdC_ruLKKoMscZ6tjIlr912txl16KkvoO7GDQQa5UYZ13pIQSVcd5UjH4GnieyJSUtVKf2EQrw-uqjWkjnRYsT_XpugQsOnghHrAnPa7JJd2tHARzNhcLh6S9vC/s400/PokemonGo+Game.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<h2>
So how does Pokémon GO work?</h2>
<ul><ul>
<li>You literally walk around looking for Pokémon to catch, visit local landmarks, called Pokéstops where you can gather/purchase supplies like Pokeballs once you run out. </li>
<li>You then throw Pokéballs at online "pocket monsters", or Pokémon, to capture them. </li>
<li>Battles take place in Gyms for supremacy. </li>
</ul>
</ul>
<br />
After its official release in the US, Australia and New Zealand, the game became the top grossing app in the iPhone store on its first week. It's going viral, and gamers are going nuts. But, before you install the game on your own mobile device, here are some things you should stop to consider before downloading it:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>1. Eats The Life Out Of Your Phone's Battery</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
All of the biggest battery-draining felons of mobile devices are in action when you play Pokémon GO. You’ll be using your screen, your camera and of course the ever hungry built-in GPS to find the Pokémon scattered all over in the first place. Trust this blend of three to give you the perfect recipe for a dead phone.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When you go out searching for Pokémon, make sure to bring a fully-charged phone with you and a ton of power banks and maybe get one of those extended battery cases too.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>2. Safety Concerns </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I wasn't surprised when I read the first news report of a traffic collision caused by
Pokémon GO here in the metro. People are hunting for Pokémon while walking around, obviously, but seem to
also be playing while riding their skateboards, bicycles, or even driving their cars. People
are also walking into peoples’ yards, which could easily lead to misunderstandings. Police stations are Gyms, and even the White House, in the US. I wonder if the Malacanang is one as well? I guess that's enough for us to say that this type of game/real world hybrid could lead to some
safety issues. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are already reports from players getting into minor accidents in a variety of ways as they wander
the real world with their eyes glued to their smartphone screens in search of
adorable digital monsters. As if this generation couldn't get anymore addicted to their phones, now it's even worse with this game. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mike Schultz cut his hand on the pavement after hitting a crack falling off his skateboard, yes, while playing the game.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Her parents had to drive her and her fiancé home. Enough said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>3. Bugs, Bugs, Oh And Did I Say Bugs?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As with every new game or app, all sorts of bugs and issues with the game have surfaced right after its release. There are some reports of opening the game just to find out that all their progress has been wiped and ongoing issues with Pokémon GO servers going down as well. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hopefully these bugs get patched up quickly, but in its current state Pokémon GO may or may not run without issues. To the gamers, remember, patience is a virtue.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<b>4. Identity Theft Risks</b><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are a lot of ways, for Android users, to sideload
Pokémon GO onto your mobile device, so that they can
play it from any country. The problem? Many of these sideloading quick
fixes are full of malware, some can even let hackers gain full remote access of your devices and extract all information inside it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hackers are after any angle that paves their way into gaining a foothold
 on our devices. A popular game or app that is still not available in
 some countries or areas is a sure way of crafting a malware delivery
strategy. Sadly, Filipinos have proven time and time again that they’ll click and try anything without a second thought, just to get instant access to a new, even prohibited or early-release app. Cyber criminals on the other hand, have proven time and time again that they’ll find a way to
infect that software… By installing software from third-party markets and
unknown sources we are basically increasing our risk of malware. Period.<br />
<br />
<b>5. Google Account Full Access</b><br />
<br />
It was reported that Pokémon Go gets full access to your Gmail, Docs and Google account once installed on your device, it shouldn't — but it does!<br />
<br />
The game as expected would require a lot of permissions, because in order for you to play, it needs to get your location, access the camera and motion sensors, read and write to your SD
 card, and charge you money for In App purchases. But what's up with full access to your Google Account? The game would then be able to see and modify
nearly all information in your Google Account except change your
password, delete your account, or pay with Google Wallet on your
behalf. But still, there is no obvious reason as to why this access should be requested in the first
 place, and there’s no way to change it (revoking privileges will only result in
crashing the game or signing you out). The most troubling part in my opinion is that the permission is both asked for and given without notifying the user. Risky, with the capital R.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>6. The Micro-Transactions </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am not a fan of In-App Purchases when it comes to mobile games and apps. But it can't be helped since this is how companies monetize “free” content; on the other hand, micro-transactions such as these can drastically change the whole gaming experience.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>7. Don't Expect The Actual Gameplay</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For hardcore Pokémon gamers, the actual game-play itself will leave them disappointed. Ultimately, Pokémon GO can't be considered a “true” Pokémon game. From the battles to the stats, how to level up, evolve, the whole game experience is a stripped down version of the one we're familiar with in the handheld gaming consoles way back. Sorry folks, don't expect an in-depth battle system on this one,... yet.  <br />
<br />
It's safe to say that Pokémon GO won't be gracing any of the mobile devices in our home. Even without the issues we have just tackled, I still don't see myself immersing myself in this game for fairly practical reasons. First, I have a family with four kids to take care of, and second, it won't stretch my peso! Haha. Take that, Nintendo!<br />
<br />
For the die-hard Pokémon gamers out there, stay safe and enjoy the game! Cheers!</div>
