So, I can't remember exactly when I joined this group called FILIPINA HOMEBASED MOMS or FHMoms on Facebook, but I have been seeing posts from fellow members on my news feed on a regular basis and have always found them timely, interesting and quite useful for a mom with a homebased job (although in my case, just part time) like me, in the Philippines.
A few days ago, a mom inquired about homeschooling and I just couldn't help but chime in on the thread since we have been homeschooling for 3 years now and counting. It was my first time interacting with the moms in the group who I belatedly realize that I have a lot more in common with other than being a mom, wife and an online freelancer. Now I found fellow homeschoolers as well! It made me more comfortable to voice out my opinions and give inputs in conversations from then on in FHMoms.
I've met Mommy Bernz of 4Ms who is very passionate about spreading the word about homeschooling, that it is for every Filipino family in different walks of life and not just for those who can afford it. Debunking the misconception that it's for the rich or upper middle class alone. And I agree, homeschooling is for everybody who wants/needs it. It just depends on your principles as parents, priorities and dedication in taking on the task (how much income a household earns doesn't really come into it). Because the journey of homeschooling, quite frankly, is not an easy one, but is definitely rewarding and worth all the effort in the end.
So, anyway I found out that they will be conducting a program this April to help Filipinos who want to take on the work at home lifestyle. I read about it, the outline of the subjects they were going to touch, that is, and let me just say with absolute certainty that it is a great course which aims to equip aspiring online freelancers in the country, most especially hands on moms with no yaya, in landing jobs and building a successful career even in the confines of their own home.
