Raising readers is fun but can be a bit challenging once your kids discover the wonderful world books can take them to. Challenging how, you ask? Well, they'll run out of books in no time that they'd end up bugging you for more titles on a regular basis. That was definitely the case for my 6th grader, she gobbles chapter books up faster than I can purchase them for her. She has also found a couple of book series that she'd like to collect and has appointed yours truly to hunt down each book to complete the sets she has her eyes on. Yey for her, dilemma for me haha.</div>

Book sales are great and helped me a lot in this quest, especially those warehouse clearance ones that are held on an annual basis. I found a lot of the books on my list (not all of them though) and discovered ones that I knew Miss Artsy would be interested in and would fit in the home library we are building perfectly. But what if you can't afford to go to the said warehouse because you live islands away or it would take at least 8-hours straight of driving to get there? This is where online shops like Bookery for Mums and Kids and SecondBooktique come in to save the day. They're stores that sell used/brand new books at bargain prices all year round! </div>

I stumbled upon these shops through joining the Awesome Book Swap! Facebook group which I was told about in the Philippine homeschool community my family is a part of. Here, I found preloved/brand new books and other educational materials being sold at discounted prices. I then started to become an active buyer in the group and found out that some of the parents (the ones I purchased from) actually had online stores for the items they were selling, they just cross post them on the group as well.<br />

I scored hard to find books like iSpy, Charlie and Lola, Nat Geo, Time For Kids, Usborne books, The Magic Tree House, The Boxcar Children, Choose Your Own Adventure, Jigsaw Jones, Roald Dahl works, Babysitter's Club, and so much more. They have books for kids of all ages, sometimes even up to teens. Looking for board books for babies, pop ups, hardbound or paperbacks? You'll find it there. Heads up! The MMDA announced that the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic or IACT has 
decided to enforce the removal of the “window hours” rule of the number 
coding scheme on October 17, two weeks earlier than the set October 
31 schedule.<br /><br /><div class="copy-paste-block">
Tim Orbos, the MMDA General 
Manager, said that the dry run to test the no “window hours” rule from 10 am 
to 3 pm will be implemented today until Friday this week.<br />
<br />

During the three-day dry run, Highway Patrol Group and MMDA 
traffic enforcers manning roads will be conducting an information campaign. 
They will not be issuing any traffic violation tickets on violators but will only 
be reminding them of the rule.<br />
<br />

Aside from Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) and C5, the 
rule will be expanded to other areas, including Alabang-Zapote Road, 
Roxas Boulevard and whole Mandaluyong City. Cities of the Makati and Las
 Pinas do not implement window hours.<br />
<br />

“The earlier enforcement of the rule was based on the 
request of the IACT to reduce vehicular traffic as Christmas nears. This
 is for the immediate effect of the reduction as traffic is foreseen to 
worsen toward Christmas,” said Orbos.<br />

The IACT shall assess the 
impact of this specific measure and determine whether it created a positive impact
 in alleviating traffic congestion in Metro Manila.<br />
<br />

The assessment will then be submitted to the Metro Manila 
Council, composed of Metro Manila mayors, who can finally decide if the measure 
will be implemented permanently.<br />
<br />

“If it’s effective, it will be decided by the council,” said Orbos.<br />
<br />

Under the current number coding scheme, vehicles are banned from 
major roads from 7 AM to 7 PM except during the 10 AM to 3 PM window 
hours.<br />
<br />

Under this traffic system, vehicles with plate numbers ending
 in 1 and 2 are not allowed outside on Mondays, 3 and 4 on Tuesdays, 5 
and 6 on Wednesdays, 7 and 8 on Thursdays and 9 and 0 on Fridays respectively.<br />
<br />
Let's all hope for the best and that the heavy traffic plaguing the metro will at least lessen if not totally eradicated.<br />
